Kisaragi Parts Names
Anyone here into Buddhism?
#1
Accidently hit the back button the other time Facepalm so I guess I have to rewrite everything...

Here's a list of the Kisaragi parts with their respective kanji names, from http://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~yasuwo/, along with my comments - if I happen to understand it. Unfortunately the website didn't provide a name for some parts:

RAKAN (阿羅漢) = From ARAKAN and ARHAT, disciples of Buddha.
SYURA (阿修羅)
FUGEN (普賢) = Primordial father Buddha.
KOKUH (虚空)
MIROKU (弥勒) = Buddha "of the future".
MONJU (文殊) = Buddhist of education, enlightenment, and wisdom.
FUDOH (不動) = Immovable, deity of flame, also as FUDO.
KONGOH (金剛) = A guardian.
KUJAKU (孔雀) = Peacock, the ride for BONTEN.
ANANDA (阿難陀) = The first disciple of Buddha.
RAGORA (羅護羅)
FURUNA (富楼那)
HIJIRI (聖) = Holy, or sacred.
HOHSHI (法師) = Magician.
BIKUNI (比丘尼)
SYAMANA (式叉摩那)
ANOKU (阿耨)
JIKYOH (持教)
FUNI (不二)
SUIGETSU (水月) = Water moon.
RURI (瑠璃) = A temple.
RENGA (蓮臥)
RYUHZU (竜頭) = Dragon head.
BYAKUE (白衣) = White cloth.
IWATO (岩戸) = A Japanese name.
SAISUI (灑水) = To sprinkle or spray water.
JIREN (持蓮)
MAGORAGA (摩護羅伽) = One of the eight legions, there are little info available.
KINNARA (緊那羅) = A half bird, half man mythical creature. One of the eight legions.
KARURA (迦楼羅) = Another bird man, a divine being. One of the eight legions.
SYAKATSUKA (釈迦) = THE Buddha, as the founder of Buddhism.
YASYA (夜叉) = A demon.
GACHIRIN (月輪) = Moon/lunar wheel.
NICHIRIN (日輪) = Sun/solar wheel. If spelled as NICHIREN, would be the deity who invented calligraphy.
RASETSU (羅刹)
ENMA (閻魔) = Also spelled EMMA, a King of Hell.
NIOH (仁王)
FUHJIN (風神) = Wind demon.
RAIJIN (雷神) = God of thunder. Also known as RAIDEN.
HITEN (飛天) = Flight.
BONTEN (梵天)= High ranking four faced deity who rides a peacock.
FUTEN (ふ天) = Deity of wind.
KATEN (火天) = Deity of fire.
SUITEN (水天) = Deity of water.
JITEN (地天) = Deity of earth.
KISSYOH (吉祥) = Good luck.
MARISHI (摩利支)
KANGI (歓喜) = Happiness or joy.

These below are not AC parts, but are enemy units encountered from AC3 to LR.
RUSYANA is the prototype AC unit found exclusively in NX (Or do they appear in NB?) equipped with the KHD-GMAX head and RAKAN core.
GURENGE are rare flamethrower armed MTs in LR that are low to the ground and thus are difficult targets to some bladers.
ZEKUH helicopters are used since AC3, they can actually be hired as consorts to some missions.
AMIDA made appearance in NX as prototype biological weapons and later in LR as pests that the player is hired to exterminate.

RUSYANA (盧舎那) = "Cosmic" Buddha.
GURENGE (紅蓮)
ZEKUH (是空)
AMIDA (啊瞇大) = From words Amitabha (Infinite light) and Amitayus (Unlimited life force), aspects of deity AMIDA.

Not all of the names are of Japanese origin, some are even those of Thai, Tibetan, Indian, or Chinese origin. And yes, all terms related in a way to Buddhism.

Cool stuff. Didn't know there was much more to AC-part etymology. Really interesting.

Everything relates to Buddhism if I'm right. No guarantees, but as far as I know, this is how it goes.

SYAKATSUKA:

釈迦つか = 釈迦 (しゃか / Buddha) + つか (not sure about its kanji equivalent/meaning) or maybe つ (*possessive indicator*) + 佳 (か / Beautiful)

RUSYANA: (Don't mind this. JE already explained it.)

流遮那 = 流 (る / Exile) + 遮那 (しゃな / Mahavairocana)

GURENGE: (not sure about this one)

紅蓮げ = 紅蓮 (ぐれん / Crimson Lotus) + 偈 (げ / Gatha)

FUTEN:

ふ天 = ふ (it has too many definitions; also used as a negative prefix) + 天 (てん / Sky)

In short, fuck it. We need Cabs. Now if only he was here.

J.E_Magog's website has most of the info required. Although a bit of work is needed to make sense of the whole thing. Still, the list is finished, thanks everyone.

I think FROM misspelled a lot of these terms.

SYURA = SHURA = ASHURA

http://www.onmarkproductions.com/html/hachi-bushu.shtml

Ashura (Skt: Asura). Demigod, 4th level of existence

Kinnara (Skt: Kimnara). Celestial musicians & dancers; human form with horse’s head; commanded by Tamonten (Shitennō)
Magoraka (Skt: Mahoraga). Serpentine musicians

SYAKATSURA = SHAKATSURA?(btw, it's not syakatsuka)

So basically they messed up with the romanization of a lot of the names? Hahaha. Typical Engrish. Tongue

It's the same with the names that Mirage used for their parts. A lot of them (TAROS, GARUM, SKYLLA, etc) got mangled in the romanization process. Big grin
