Genbu *Name thanks to Grimlok*

Head: CICADA2
Core: SELENA
Arms: BABOON
Legs: BOAR2
Booster: none
FCS: F73H or LIMPET (Although the later is prefered for faster opponents)
Generator: KUJAKU
Radiator: ANANDA
Inside: MEDUSA2
Extensions: JIREN
Back R: LAMIA2
Back L: GERYON
Arm R: RS
Arm L: HP

Option parts: Shell and EN screens, KISSYOH, FCS+, CODON, MARISHI, HISTON

Its a tank basicaly... No OB, but somewhat mobile. Its main strength lies in its ability to inflict massive CQ damage in a short span of time. The LAMIA2 in itself is one of the most damaging weapons in the game under sustained fire (it also helps that it's fairly accurate) and combined with other built-in passive weapons such as the SELENA's EOs and the HP make this tank one hell of a damage racer in CQ... that is if you can hold the LAMIA2's lock on an opponent.

The other weapons are for longer ranged opponents. The GERYON by itself is good for mid-long range opponents, while the RS is for long, to exreme range opponents.

As a rule of thumb, if your opponent is:

Less than 175M, use the LAMIA2 + SELENA + HP.
Greater than 175 but less than 250, use the GERYON
Anyhing beyond 250, use the RS.

These are just the recomended range of weapons, mix and match as you wish. I find that the effective range of the LAMIA2 overlaps with the GERYON's, so you can use either what more comfortable for your style. The KUJAKU is pretty stable on this design thanks to the high cooling and low booster heat, and its large capacitor allows for some good air-time, allowing it to reach some higher obstacles.

Honestly, the reason I built this tank was because it looks so cool with all the rounded parts. Tongue The CICADA2 stays for me despite the DRONE being an alternative. It makes it look more rounded. Big grin

I got a name for this one.

BONEL BALINGIT. Big grin

Can't wait to play it, although if someone out-turns this in tight circles, it's gone.

- Goat - 03-20-2007

Your weapons are ok, the LAMIA2 works damn good because of the firing interval at CQs. I usually use it in tanks lol. RS and HP really hurts, no need to say anything about it.

You could change the KUJAKU into FUDOH if you want less heat when an enemy shoots you with an energy gun.

EDIT:
You can change the head into SPIDER for better EN defense with a built-in radar though. Also about what Grimlok said, it's all gone once the enemy out-turns your tank. Even with your AC's EN supply extension to retreat when an enemy human manages to go behind, he/she could just blade you in the air or just try following you from behind. You might want to change the core into EOS so you can OB or get the turn boosters for turning when a bastard tries to kill you. Tongue

I think the KUJAKU has to stay because of its output, somthing that an EN weapons based tank deperately needs.

Sad reality is, the tank can't really turn on a dime even with the CODON and underweight, meaning one will have to either face an opponent trying to out-turn the AC head-on and enter a damage race (quite risky) or ditch some weapons in order to lighten the load of the AC. Oh how I long for the days when the TRIDENT (AC3/SL name for the BOAR2, which had one of the faster turn rates of all legs in the game back then) turned fast.

- NiX - 03-20-2007

Yep. Looks good. Everything is theoretically sound. I'd still pick the GL over the GERYON though... especially since GL won't get in the way of your EOs. (EDIT: plus the fact that I trust GL's accuracy far more than any backmount) But either way is fine.

And... well flanking will definitely be the bane of this tank, but you know that already.

Genbu the black tortoise? now all we need is

Seiryu the blue/green dragon
Suzaku the red bird
and Byakko the white tiger
and then we will have the full set ^^

although there might have been a fifth called YingLong The yellow/Winged Dragon Im not sure does anyone know the myth's surroundng these beings?

- Lord_Leperman - 03-21-2007

I might make more themed ACs based on those, although I'd have to research on those things soon Tongue.

Anyway, I changed the FCS to the LIMPET, as it gives a more balanced lock-box. The F69 noticably locks slower than the LIMPET for the backmounts. As for OB cores, I have other tanks that use the EOS and I was experimenting on an EO based tank.

This AC is so cute!

Though it feels like this one will bacon after a few hot hits, it will be able to manage.
No comments or suggestions...

That was the most unexpected comment for an AC I've ever read.

Anyway, I can't wait to test this out against a human opponent Tongue

- Goat - 03-21-2007

Try testing it against beastkiller. He uses tanks too. Tongue

- beastkiller - 03-21-2007

- Lord_Leperman - 03-22-2007
