^the last thing you want to see from your helmet display. if you feel like you aren't paid enough to strap yourself (and potentially die) inside an 18-foot tall war machine that can skate around ruined city streets in excess of 60 km/h and do other sorts of awesome stuff, then pack you bags and fly back to whatever OCU member state you came from.

Good job on whoever did the uploading! 36 pages of stuff, and all images are large and crisp.

Do you guys know if we can download it as a whole? Through a torrent, preferably?

RE: Somebody had whatever it takes to do this... - wanzerfreak - 10-06-2008

don't know about any torrents...sorry grim. Sad

anyway,

here's a comment from on of my buddies on gamefaqs:

"No databook can do any justice to the FM series if it's less than 500 pages. The FM world is too well developed and multi-layered for a mere 300-400 page databook. Truth be told, World Historica could be longer given it was written around early 2007. The 2089 series is largely ignored and the plot-related additions to the DS version of FM 1st aren't documented either. Aside from that, the databook doesn't necessarily cover everything from the FM series. More specifically, it compresses a lot of detail likely for the purpose of lowering production costs. I estimate that if the authors really went all-out as of now, World Historica could actually surpass the 1000-page mark."

wanzer-freak.

RE: Somebody had whatever it takes to do this... - wanzerfreak - 10-06-2008

come to think of it, there's still a lot of stuff that still needs to be included. rough character sketches, wanzer sketches (too many wanzers to begin with), vehicle sketches (likewise!), box art, background information on other factions, corporations, armed forces, governments, etc. that weren't mentioned in the first 500 pages.

the entire FM universe is just too big, probably second only to the Xeno series.

RE: Somebody had whatever it takes to do this... - Grim - 10-07-2008

Wala ngang torrents. I may have to resort to saving this monstrosity one image at a time to complete it. Somehow, I want it to take up space on my hard drive. This find is that epic to me.

I wouldn't mind a part two of the book, either. I mean yeah, this is forty plus years of world mythos we are talking about, lovingly kept preserved throughout the series, even through storylines that don't really have direct connections with each other.

RE: Somebody had whatever it takes to do this... - Lord_Leperman - 10-07-2008

Of course it'll be around 1K pages. The almost real-time updates of the Alordesh Coup in FM2 through the webnews service and the amount of story material in FM2 and 3 are already quite a lot. Add in all the other FM games and the largely unknown FM5 in the west, you've got one long history book :p. I hope they have that picture of that kung-fu man beating up a wanzer in FM3 Tongue

They should also put the fact that trees don't just fall down in the FM world when anything happens to them. They blow up.

that may be true but at least FM didn't get shot to sh!t after the original if square gave the same importance to xeno like the attention FM got then I would fully accept your statement but alas it won't be reaching its potential is near impossible.

and another thing ONE THOUSAND PAGES HOLY!!! thats gonna take its while uploading X_X

Maybe I should start playing the series all over again, but I'll probably start from either FM2 or 3, since these two have the easiest access for me to play.
