Lightweight Programs - NiX - 10-05-2008 I've recently developed an obsession for programs that use as little RAM as possible while still doing what the more popular choices do. With the bloat accompanying the newer versions of many classic programs, my poor aging laptop has been feeling the weight. >_< There's Foxitreader or PDFXViewer for replacing that nasty Adobe Reader MusikCube for a lightweight music player that still provides you direct access to your library Media Player Classic, of course, with Real Media Alternative and Quicktime Alternative. VLC too. KMeleon for browsing, although FF3.0 is hard to part with etc etc What else do you guys recommend? RE: Lightweight Programs - PhAYSe - 10-10-2008 Slimbrowser as a replacement for IE (as if Firefox couldn't do the same!). One thing about it though is that it uses the IE Engine. Pidgin as a replacement for Yahoo! Messenger (and every other messenger to boot!) Paint.NET or The G.I.M.P. as a replacement for Adobe Photoshop. (This next one's a joke) Linux as a replacement for Windows |
