Blu-Ray vs HD DVD! - NiX - 11-08-2007

The next generation of home video has been upon us for quite a while already with Blu-Ray on one end and HD DVD on another.

Personally, I don't wanna bother with either one right now because we don't even have an HD TV at home. -_-

It's just funny that "passionate" supporters of both sides ended up having a whole forum locked for a week because of some serious flame wars (see the link above).

It's not very fun being caught up in something like that...

Truth be told,I like Blu-ray better. but I don't want to defend it's name.

RE: Blu-Ray vs HD DVD! - Grim - 11-08-2007

Well I personally haven't experienced either of the formats, games or otherwise. Both look promising though.

As both of them are technically HD media anyway, I'd be more inclined to use HD DVD when it becomes practical to use them for backups, as they currently have the lead on capacity (30 GB vs. 25).

Plus, it's a matter of fact that currently, and I stress currently, the XBox360 is winning the console wars.

I guess you're right. but HD HDVDs usually hangs.Have one played on my friend's 360. And 1080p is rare on HD DVDs

I'm sure that's just an isolated or rare case. Your friend's game/unit may be defective.

Because if every single HD DVD had a tendency to hang, people everywhere would flip.

Did Warner Bros. Just Kill HD-DVD?

Summary of points supporting Blu-ray so far:

1. Team Blu-ray is
Apple, Warner Bros., Disney, Fox and Sony

Team HD-DVD is
Viacom (Paramount and Dreamworks), Universal

2. Blu-ray holds more per layer, with 25gb vs. HD-DVDs 15gb

3. Blockbuster (the biggest video + game rental company in the world) supports Blu-ray exclusively now

4. Blu-ray discs are outselling HD-DVD 2:1

I don't really care either way, as I'll just buy from the eventual winner.
Who do I support? CD-R KING!! Rofl

Hahah poor HD DVD. They were supposed to have a press con/cocktail party when Warner suddenly made their announcement.

Looks like another major backer of HD-DVD is moving to the Blu-Ray camp. This time its New Line Cinema, and another rumor Paramount Pictures is also moving to blu-ray.

Looks like Blu-Ray is moving in for the kill.
