Monty Oum - Grim - 10-28-2007
In this topic, we shall talk about the awesomeness that are Monty Oum's videos. Who's Monty Oum you ask? Why, only the best fan animator in existence. Basically he takes characters from games and puts them all together in one long FMV which is so good you'd think it was made by the game creators themselves.

Both take quite a long time to load, but trust me when I say they're both worth every second of waiting. Honestly. If you won't do it for love of the sheer technical expertise that goes into making them, do it for the gentle amounts of fanservice.

WOW.
The polygon count seems to be on par with 1st-gen PS2 games (which isn't necessarily bad). Well considering that it's only one guy doing this, that's totally amazing.

And the intricacy of the way the characters move! It brings tears to anyone who's ever tried 3D modelling and rendering.

Yeah, definitely. It's the fluid/life-like movement of the characters that sets his vids apart.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know that most modern CG teams use motion-capture technology to capture real actors doing a scene to be translated to CG, which usually explains why the CG vids we currently see are almost life-like.
This guy, however, most likely doesn't have hardware (and budget) for stuff like that and he's most likely doing this from scratch. Now that's the amazing part.

I find it funny that Yuna's guns don't punch holes through the DOA girls though.
