[OLD] Chat's up! - Grim - 08-21-2006 The Raven Republic now has it's own chatroom on IRC. To go there, just click on the link above in the main menu. A window will pop up and there will be a prompt regarding security certificates. Just say yes, it's clean. For those who wish to access the chatroom from an outside IRC client like mIRC, here are the important bits of information to remember: Server: irc.gamesurge.net Channel: #ravenrepublic Or if you've already configured an IRC client to work with IRC links, here: irc://irc.gamesurge.net/ravenrepublic This has replaced the original chat system, which unfortunately was slow and annoying. IRC is much faster, more reliable, and easier to use (generally speaking). And by the way, if you try to change your name by using the /nick command and it doesn't seem to respond, keep trying other names. That only means the one you're trying to change into is already taken. Hope to see you guys around on chat. - strawhat_luffy - 03-13-2007 where do we go to get on chat now? - Goat - 03-13-2007 Quote:where do we go to get on chat now?LOL. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Grimlok's too busy fixing the RR lol. - strawhat_luffy - 03-13-2007 true, true, sorry about that. RE: Chat's up! - Grim - 03-13-2007 strawhat_luffy Wrote:where do we go to get on chat now?The menu bar's still available on the old forums. It's a popup anyway so you can go back here anytime. I'm still doing other security stuff to the code of the board so stuff like that is pretty low on the priority setting, haha. Expect everything to be fixed in around 3 days. EDIT: Or you can access the chatroom through an outside IRC client, like I said. - strawhat_luffy - 03-13-2007 thanks, I didn't know if it would still work or not. - Serene - 03-15-2007 Trial The Chatroom Kung tinatamad pumunta sa old site... - clonezero - 03-15-2007 alI see is a blank screen XD - Serene - 03-15-2007 How could that be? I checked before I posted it here... I just checked it again, and it's still the chatroom... - clonezero - 03-16-2007 hmm my question is what do I need to INSTALL to make it work IRC? cus I only am OL in shops not at home so I think thats the problem V_V scratch that it is IRC so what can I do, where could I download IRC and ... oh crap I forgot the last thing I was gonna say ... - Grim - 03-16-2007 Just like our jukebox (which I've not yet put here), you need the Java Runtime Environment to make our in-house chat program work. Get it here, it should work after that. But if you're in a computer shop, I'm sure they have some sort of IRC program installed there, most likely mIRC like I said in the original post in this topic. The server and channel are listed up top as well. EDIT: IRC itself is not "downloadable." It's merely the name for an existing technology, in this case a means of exchanging messages in real-time. It's the programs you use to access it which are downloadable. Just thought I'd clear that up. |
