RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Lord_Leperman - 05-25-2010 Poor planet. Nice image though :p I wonder if there's intelligent life on that planet and if they were able to make it out alive... That's a pretty old issue - I remember hearing from my asian history classes on admu that Japan's minimalist culture was partly due to the land's frequent lack of resources. It was because they were often strapped for materials that they developed various art styles the focus on subtlety and detail instead of outright flamboyance. Instead, they decided to put their last hope in a capsule and send him on an interstellar journey to an insignificant planet on the other side of the galaxy, where he will grow strong and help protect his adopted home-world. Tempting...very tempting...but quite frankly, I'm scared that doing so might make us into some Khmer Rouge persona, where we think we're doing the right thing, when we're actually being douchebags. RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Hempire - 05-27-2010 take what you just said...and apply that to the world. Hopefully this incident won't lead to a real life AC setting. Then again, we won't be able to build ACs if we don't have oil to start of with. Seriously, this incident is affecting a lot of people and we have yet to feel the impact of the environmental consequences.
