Okay, this is just plain WRONG:

Newspaper to pay for stories about how video games turned you to a life of crime

Quote:A national newspaper wants your story and will pay hundreds of pounds to the right person.

Write a few lines about how computer games turned you to crime and if it's something we like, we'll call you straight back.

Payment details: paid role

Created: 27 March 2008
Applications accepted for at least another month
Application criteria: Males & Females aged 0 to 60 from UK

Ahh, England: Where the local tabloids are read (and believed) far more often then the real newspapers.

If I were to speculate on this matter, methinks this may have something to do with the recently released report by Dr. Tanya Byron regarding violent video gaming in the UK.

Funny - I seem to remember that more people over there are killed due to soccer matches (bar brawls stadium stampedes, riots...) as compared to GTA or Halo 3.

Survey: Florida Teens Believe Drinking Bleach Will Prevent HIV

Quote:A recent survey that found some Florida teens believe drinking a cap of bleach will prevent HIV and a shot of Mountain Dew will stop pregnancy has prompted lawmakers to push for an overhaul of sex education in the state.

The survey showed that Florida teens also believe that smoking marijuana will prevent a person from getting pregnant.

State lawmakers said the myths are spreading because of Florida's abstinence-only sex education, Local 6 reported.

They are proposing a bill that would require a more comprehensive approach, the report said.

It would still require teaching abstinence but students would also learn about condoms and other methods of birth control and disease prevention.

Makes sense. No life = no HIV

Yeah it's freaking useless. Priscilla Meirelles is really hot. But yeah, now that I think of it, she wouldn't go topless because that'd cause her beauty pageant titles to be revoked.

Venezuela yanks ‘Simpsons’ for ‘Baywatch’

Quote:CARACAS, Venezuela - D’oh! A Venezuelan TV channel has yanked “The Simpsons” off the air because it may be inappropriate for children. Taking its place: “Baywatch Hawaii.”

Televen TV station spokeswoman Elba Guillen said Monday that the decision to hand over the daily 11 a.m. time slot came after the National Telecommunications Commission received complaints from viewers.

“It had to be taken off,” Guillen said. “They consider it to be a series that isn’t appropriate for that time because it isn’t appropriate for children.”

Lemme get this straight - the parents would rather that their kids watch a show containing plenty of half-naked guys and girls happily prancing about on a beach, rather than have them watch a cynical-yet-intelligent satire of everyday life displayed in cell-colored glory?

It's official - there is a conspiracy to keep us stupid.

Digg users and anon Rickroll tens of thousands of people all at once by voting "Never Gonna Give You Up" as the official 8th inning sing along song of the New York Mets for the season.

Notice that the song can barely be heard because of all the booing.

After the game, a small riot broke out near the stadium entrances and dozens of fans were arrested. You can watch the scuffles with uniformed police officers here:
