Listen to the stream, or to the radio, 88.3

They have guests from insurance companies. Starts now, 11am. Might help if your car got trashed (and if you got more than the minimum 3rd-party liability coverage).

Poor Vietnam's getting hit too.

Quick update: She got out this morning by riding the top of a passing garbage truck.

Sorry for the late reply.

Glad to hear that you guys are ok.

I'm fine on my side. However, the place where my dad works was badly hit; and it's in some of the places hardly mentioned - Laguna. The factory had 5-ft of water, and a lot of stuff were badly damaged/wrecked.

We have several officemates badly affected, and we're all pitching-in here to help them out.

And on the upcoming typhoon, I heard it's hitting upper Luzon (again). >.<

RE: Frakkin Flood n' Rain - NiX - 09-30-2009

Everywhere I'm hearing news about people helping other people, etc etc. That's great of course. What's sad though is how some people are abusing the help they're being given (getting more than their fair share, etc), and even complaining. I also heard that the packaging used for relief goods is now also scattered all over many of the areas that received them. Wow, great going Philippines. That will TOTALLY help the next time epic rains come again. Not to mention the looters.

Shit like this really does bring out both the best and the worst in humanity.

Other news: http://business.inquirer.net/money/breakingnews/view/20090928-227348/Smart-co-founder-killed-in-wall-collapse Smart co-founder, killed.

Anyways, more pix:

Garbage, everywhere. We all know it's a major factor.

RE: Frakkin Flood n' Rain - clonezero - 09-30-2009

flood damage report:
first floor, kitchen area, and garage got hit
peak height of flood was around 10 feet at street level ... we where really getting worried when it was half way up our stairs @@)
what was dangerous was the current
40% destroyed ( though 1/4 of that were unused items my pack rat of a dad stowed in the garage XP )
30% repairable
30% saved

again I have to thank my tito for the designed elevation and we whre lucky a lot of us was home at the time ... and of course adrenaline 3 girls (though one was rather buff) and a fat geek where able to "partially" save the ref ... it stinked to high heavens when we cleaned it though (curses galor)

our chicken survived somewhat miraculously

I have to salute our water supplier ... they where the only one that didn't get borked ... we took the garden hose and rigged it with some styro so it floats

and oh yeah to this day no help from the goverment has come to our SUB division. lots of helicopters flying about but no freaking help is it because they are still deciding whether our subdivision is part of cainta or marikina sheesh >_>

Boss Rick I'll give you my new cp when I get the chance

and any news from mix and jack-o both live near me ...and I have no idea how they fared
EDIT: mix seems okay so what about jack - o

Hey Raffy, good to hear you're OK.

Nix, yeah this is one of those times where the bad breeds something good which breeds something bad. It sucks.

RE: Frakkin Flood n' Rain - Fox - 09-30-2009

Whew, so you're doing fine, CZ. That's a load of worry off my mind then.

Got my ass dragged off to the army gym this afternoon by some of my friends here in Bonifacio. Spent a few hours with a platoon of scout rangers loading boxes of relief goods onto several transport trucks. I wouldn't exactly call it volunteer work since i was hauled off without me knowing what i was getting into but it was a pretty sobering experience, especially since the gym was converted into a shelter.

With my place being situated in a hilly area, seeing all those displaced people in the gym made me realize just how lucky i was. Water seeping into my room was definitely nothing compared to what other people have gone through.

Really good use of google maps summarizing how badly various areas got hit. Check it out! Might be great reference for the future too.

RE: Frakkin Flood n' Rain - Serene - 10-01-2009

Pepeng is more on wind strength compared to Ondoy... Will hit probably Thursday evening...

I think it's a google initiative, since they had a whole page up on how to help as a link on their main Philippine portal, google.com.ph for the past few days.

It's not there anymore, but I'm really impressed with google.

Or Friday morning. Wasn't the new storm going N/NE?

If it hits then, potah.

Hindi tatama sa Manila pero direct hit ang Isabela, nanaman. Malamang, uulan lang sa Manila.
Kasama din sa directly affected areas ang Vigan tsaka Laoag.

72 hours pa.

...That's nothing to celebrate about, of course.

RE: Frakkin Flood n' Rain - Serene - 10-01-2009

And if it doers his Manila, the rain wouldn't be as strong as Ondoy's. But 'em reliable people at PAG-ASA said there might be a third one... Left Right Straight combo.
