I gotta give it to him, sticking it to the man like that. Now if only someone'd do that to the BIR.

RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - NiX - 02-19-2010

What, like crash it into Malacanang? That sounds like a good plan too.

A smaller version of Operation British on Philippine soil? LOL

RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Serene - 02-19-2010

I'd rather have Operation Meteor.

I can already see the follow-up headlines:

Texas residents in uproar, say "He should've used a bigger plane"

In other news, this is exactly why I am weary of those "Natural medicines" they're peddling in drug stores:

Chinese herbal pills destroyed UK woman's health
http://uk.reuters.com/article/idUKTRE61G3N420100217?pageNumber=1&virtualBrandChannel=0

Quote:LONDON (Reuters) - A Chinese herbal practitioner admitted on Wednesday selling dangerous pills which destroyed the health of a British woman, leading to calls for the tighter regulation of those selling alternative medicines.

Civil servant Patricia Booth, 58, took tiny brown "Xie Gan Wan" tablets for more than five years to treat a facial skin condition after being reassured that the pills were as safe as Coca-Cola.

The medicine, sold by Ying "Susan" Wu from a shop in Chelmsford, northeast of London, did clear up her skin but had disastrous consequences, the capital's Old Bailey court heard.

Months after she stopped taking the pills in 2003, she fell seriously ill, had to have her kidneys removed, contracted urinary tract cancer and later had a heart attack.

She had to quit her job managing a government office and now needs to go to hospital for dialysis three times a week.

Holy crap - what the hell was in those pills? Shock

Google: One more step closer to world domination. Pretty soon they'll be churning out AC parts.

CNN tracks the movements of an 11-man assassination team, which is allegedly responsible for the recent execution of one of Hamas' top leaders, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

While killing is of course wrong, I can't help but experience some sort of curiosity (and maybe even admiration) for the way they pulled it off so efficiently.

Wow did I really just say that haha. Hmm... heading to the dark side...

Another Facepalm moment c/o the Church.

Women's groups, HIV patients rally behind Cabral

Quote:MANILA, Philippines - Women’s organizations, HIV/AIDS patients and representatives of non-government organizations will rally in support of embattled Secretary Esperanza Cabral in front of the Department of Health (DOH) office in Manila at 10 a.m. today.

Cabral incurred the ire of Catholic bishops when the DOH distributed free condoms on the eve of Valentine’s Day at the Dangwa flower market in Manila as part of the campaign to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Last week, Cabral also said the DOH would resume providing contraceptive pills to interested couples.

“We are glad that Secretary Cabral and her department remain steadfast in implementing programs that should have been conducted by the government long ago despite the pressures and threats thrown at her by some leaders of the Catholic Church,” the Philippine Legislators Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD) said in a statement.

The PLCPD said they will also distribute condoms in today’s rally.

Lipa City Archbishop Ramon Arguelles and Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes demanded Cabral’s resignation for distributing condoms, saying condoms promote sexual promiscuity among the youth.
