Jason Ivler has finally been arrested by the NBI...they found him in his own house.

http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=541800

Quote:MANILA, Philippines -- Jason Ivler, the principal suspect in the killing of a son of a Palace official, was seriously wounded after a shootout with National Bureau of Investigation agents inside his home in a posh subdivision in Quezon City this morning, a radio report said.

Ivler and an NBI agent, identified as Ana Labao, were brought to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center for treatment. Another NBI agent was also reportedly wounded in the firefight.

In a radio interview, an attending physician said that both Ivler and Labao were conscious when brought to the hospital.

Ivler sustained two bullet wounds on the left side of his body, while a bullet grazed the chest of Labao, the doctor said.

Initial report disclosed that NBI agents raided anew the Blue Ridge residence of the Ivlers in Quezon City early this morning after receiving information that the suspect was there.

However, when NBI operatives, along with Quezon City policemen, were about to serve the arrest warrant when Ivler allegedly started firing. The operatives also arrested Ivler's mother, Marlene Aguilar, and several other household helpers who were inside the house during the incident, the report said.

Ivler reportedly shot and killed Renato Ebarle Jr., son of Renato Ebarle Sr. who is working at the Office of the Presidential Chief of Staff in Malacañang, in a traffic altercation in Quezon City late last year.

NBI deputy director Ruel Lasala said they have raided the Ivler home twice but failed to arrest the suspect.

After all the speculation that Ivler had left the country and whatnot, he was literally right under the NBI's nose Glare

In a follow-up report, the doctor treating the NBI agent who was shot notes that the wound was inflicted by an armor-piercing slug. The NBI reports that Ivler was packing a CAR-15.

Anybody have a boat we can borrow for a, uhh, fishing trip?
http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=538867&publicationSubCategoryId=67

Quote:ALO, Leyte , Philippines – Forty-two more cocaine bricks were recovered yesterday morning by fishermen on the shores of Llorente and Hernani towns in Eastern Samar, authorities said.

The new haul brought to 283 the total number of cocaine bricks found in the waters of Northern and Eastern Samar since Dec. 21. The illegal drugs were estimated to be worth P1.4 billion.

Both the local police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) continue to conduct follow-up operations to recover more cocaine.

PDEA Director General Dionisio Santiago earlier had suggested that a sack of rice be given as reward for every cocaine brick turned over by fisherfolk.

Liza Baoi, of the PDEA regional office here, said 15 of 59 cocaine bricks brought to the PDEA central office were already destroyed, witnessed by President Arroyo herself.

The rest of the illegal drugs are still in the safekeeping of the PDEA-Region 8 office and recommended to be destroyed, too, Baoi said.

Undersecretary Paul Clarence Oaminal, vice chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board, earlier hailed the recovery of the illegal drugs as the country’s most significant contribution to the world’s anti-narcotics campaign.

The cocaine bricks were believed to have been intentionally dropped in the waters of Samar to avoid detection.

PDEA regional director Julius Navales said more cocaine bricks could still be recovered. There are reports that some villagers could be hiding them because of their value; a cocaine brick is reportedly worth some P5 million.

I was thinking of fishing for stonefish. WHo's coming along? Clapping
