Rant: Group report for a class. One guy in the group told us that he wanted to make a flash animation as the report, and that he could do it all by himself. One week later, he cuts the class for no reason. Even his phone was shut off. We really thought we were going to receive a failing grade but the prof gives us another chance during the next meeting. This was last Friday. Today, he calls me 30 minutes before class starts and tells me, "I could only finish 30 seconds of our report that was supposed to be 5 minutes long, and the 30 seconds looks like shit." I told him to come to school anyway, because shit for a grade is better than 0.
Anyway, it turned out that his shitty flash animation was enough because the prof's standards weren't too high and we did well on the recitation portion of the report. It was a really annoying experience though. I seriously would've gotten pissed with the guy if we failed. I mean, WTF, ask for help if you need it. It's not like the group will hold it against you.
Rave: Related to the above story; our report got pushed back because the meeting before that, there was this girl who couldn't say anything for 15 minutes when asked to recite. She only said something by whispering to the prof when she threatened to fail the entire group if the girl didn't talk. This is the same girl that watches teleserye all night and gave me a bonus in one of the quizzes before she couldn't divide two digit numbers properly. Airhead in every sense of the word
She's also pretty cute and lives in Forbes 
We thanked her after the period where she delayed our report. It probably wasn't on purpose though.Edit: The question was, "How does viewer perception play into advertising products?" -__-

He wants to play a fighting game where you could immediately pull out your comboes, (heck why not just watch a movie then.).
Typical guy alright - shallow, and unwilling to put any real effort into any activity that might actually affirm him as a real man

Nobody should decide to opt out of a martial art because it's not "uso".
The point of a martial art is that it's a means to help you grow physically and mentally. It's a journey that hones your senses - sharpens them like a rock does to a blade - and gives you insight into your own limits, and how to break through them. It is a constant cycle of death and rebirth, with you coming out of each session haggard, exhausted, and half-dead, but just a little stronger.
Martial Arts are not some fucking accessory you just discard after they lose their trendiness. It's hard work.
...Out of curiosity atdsutm, could you elaborate on why you like karate? And which school?

I'm especially annoyed at people like mr. uso. mr. troll i can tolerate because he's just dumb(which i can ignore), and i also am used to being trolled(by a certain mod here).
Mr. uso is what I would call your typical guy who's too dumb to try to even go the next step in human evolution. he apparently is satisfied to stay a few levels below being a homo sapien.
and what the fuck is with the not uso in karate? I bet he trains in whatever uso art he has just to be cool and look good in front of girls. I bet most of the rr peeps will absolutely DESTROY this guy in a real fight, including me. (i wanna fucking punch this dude so hard.)

Still, telling a man you don't practice a martial art because it's not "uso" is downright insulting.
A conflict in fighting philosophy - that's why I opted for boxing over Karate or Muai Thai - or maybe you feel it's not the right style for you, I can fully understand.

AAAANYWAY, For me, even though most of my senseis tell me karate is more for the perfection of one's self, frankly, I don't really go into all that-I just try to get as strong as I possibly can. I don't exactly follow all of the precepts either. IMHO, just take what you think is useful and suitable for you-as for the other stuff, up to you what to do with those.
