RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Aruren - 06-20-2009 Hm. I'm guessing the drama before that act is a lot more than any normal person can handle. Yeah it's really nice to know that when people get big names there are still those who retain their humanity. RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Grim - 06-21-2009 Nice going Pixar. RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Black Dragon - 06-21-2009 (06-20-2009, 03:58 AM)AppleHead Wrote: I cried after reading the original article For self benefit or not, the fact that they granted the person's wish like that is something not so easily done. My hat's off to Pixar for this kind of act. RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - AppleHead - 06-22-2009 Don't wanna sound preachy but I'm surprised the Iran election protests hasn't been discussed here at all. I think everyone should at least try and find out what's going on, to appreciate the country you live in in spite how bad things may seen. Be thankful for democracy. Here's a list of 10 Incredible Videos taken by regular people. #9 should come with a warning, as it's extremely graphic. http://mashable.com/2009/06/20/iran-youtube/ More details on the #9 video. http://open.salon.com/blog/kathy_riordan/2009/06/20/her_name_was_neda RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Shintetsu - 06-22-2009 (06-22-2009, 03:20 PM)AppleHead Wrote: Don't wanna sound preachy but I'm surprised the Iran election protests hasn't been discussed here at all. If the Philippine government wasn't a democracy, then we would have went waay past that, long ago. I hope Neda finds peace wherever she goes RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Mjting - 06-22-2009 Omg..that vid just made me sick to my stomach......I'm sorry for mentioning myself in spite of what happened to Neda, But I hope that her death wasn't for nothing. R.I.P RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - NiX - 06-22-2009 Many of us here get our news from other sites, or the newspapers or other message boards. That's probably why no one bothered to start a thread for all the Iran stuff. Besides, media all over is already covering it more than anything else right now. There's no real way to be "ignorant" about it. But with that said, I know that Iran definitely needs our support. The Philippines, come election time, might have to deal with some similar bullshit. RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Sforza - 06-22-2009 Watched the Neda video earlier by way of Huffington Post. I've actually been tweeting a lot about this since it started, to the point that I'm worried people might unfollow me for concentrating on it so much. There's really not much to say, aside from the many parallelisms that can be drawn with Philippine history starting with the first People Power revolution. RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Shintetsu - 06-23-2009 Though, for someone who doesn't even have anything to do with whatever riot was going on there, to be shot at random, is just sick. I can't condemn anyone anyway, I'm just overreacting because I saw what happened. But still.. RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Aruren - 06-23-2009 Man. I'm not sure what to say about this, but from what I've been getting in other news it seems the protests are becoming rather successful. Some of the military is already sympathizing with the public which is a good thing. RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Sforza - 06-23-2009 What. The. Fuck? 19-year-old shot and killed in Tehran. Link RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Lord_Leperman - 06-25-2009 Girl stops growing up, literally. This the story of Brooke Greenberg who has apparently stopped aging and just celebrated her 16th birthday this year. Brooke at age 1 (On the very right): Brooke at age 16 (second to the right, the one on the very right is her younger sister): Here's an article written about her 4 years ago: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9778227/ And here's a more recent one just a few days ago: http://www.abcnews.go.com/2020/Health/Story?id=7880954&page=1 RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - maitreya - 06-25-2009 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap_travel/20090623/ap_tr_ge/ml_travel_brief_israel_dead_sea_sinkholes Dead Sea peril: sinkholes swallow up the unwary RE: Teh interesting news stub thread - Grim - 06-25-2009 Shaq gets traded to the Cavs for Big Ben and Pavlovic This is a big move for the Cavs, and could potentially revive Shaq's game a bit like when he moved to the Heat a couple of years ago. Of course one may argue he wasn't as old then as he was now, and that's a fair point. Still, I see the Cavaliers making the Conference Finals again this coming season. Also, poor Pavlovic - he's been a solid player off the bench for the Cavs over the years, and now he's saying bye-bye.
