Could be related to what we're seeing now with From Software and Armored Core, without the hostile takeover of other companies (particularly because there is no other giant robot action game on the level of AC made by another company). I mean, think about it, what other franchises did From Soft became recognized besides the somewhat successful King's Field series or Tenchu? They're playing the safe route through these years.
