That's exactly how I feel. It's exactly the same with the local music industry. If only our mainstream writers would try to be a bit more creative and innovative.
Then again, those that do try to innovate or do something different usually just get burned. Sad as it is, for example, I don't see any indie/semi-indie bands topping any charts/getting LOCAL recognition/making any money. Sure, going indie usually means that they're not in it for the money... but at the end of the day, they still have to make a living.
Though I hate myself for saying this, the Filipino's readiness to accept all this novelty bullshit is what's causing local media to self-destruct.

I remember a film professor once telling me he looked forward to seeing the local mainstream fim industry die out.
its death would wipe out most of our crappy directors and filmakers, he explained.
