Don’t worry about the warning that comes out. from http://www.universefirefox.com/how-to/how-to-speed-up-firefox-3 RE: Firefox 3.0 - NiX - 02-25-2009 http://www.downloadsquad.com/2009/02/24/pixlr-plugin-for-firefox-turns-your-browser-into-an-image-editor/ Cool new plug-in for Firefox that lets you edit images. You can even import the web page you're viewing for editing! Just wondering, what's the difference between optimized and non-optimized foxy browsers? RE: Firefox 3.0 - NiX - 02-25-2009 Supposedly, with the default setting, Firefox only makes requests to a web page one at a time. With the optimized settings, it'll be able to make multiple requests. And then there's also this built-in delay which is removed here. All these delays are supposed to help dial-uppers using Firefox. The settings above are supposed to optimize firefox for broadband. Just google and you'll see lots of other tutorials. If you don't want to muck around with about:config, you can also just search for an add-on called "Tweak Network". It should do pretty much the same thing, but automatically. RE: Firefox - NiX - 03-24-2011 Firefox 4.0 just released! I'm liking it so far. Snappier and more screen space! Snappier and more screen space! same here ...but RR still takes forever to load For those who are having a hard time reading the fonts on their new browser, try setting "gfx.direct2d.disabled" to true in about:config then restart ff4. Apparently ff4 uses windows7's flawed direct2d for enabling hardware acceleration. Unless m$oft fixes this problem, mine will stay disabled. This quick fix btw doesn't fully disable the hardware acceleration feature of ff4 RE: Firefox - NiX - 03-27-2011 It's all great so far except that RAM usage seems to have increased even more. Oh, and switching the places of "open link in new tab" and "open link in new window" is really messing up my clicking habits. But I'm really happy that it doesn't take a decade to load like FF3.6 did. |
