or at least kill the hidden zodiac at mission 1, since that mission really requires the 1.01 Gatling guns.

Agreed. I do remember wishing before that there would be some kind of RPG-ish element added to future AC games but the weapon grinding was far from what i was thinking.

where is the best stage to level a KE weapon? i find order mission 6 a bit too long because the AC is resistant to KE weapons

You just need to OB and kick the enemy with either a tank or a heavy.

^I've never tried myself, but I think you should still be able to do all the story missions and order missions and still unlock all the parts through your non-consequential offline team. There's no 2-player split screen, though.

No weapon powering-up, no weapon trading, no access to the team and team menus, no multiplayer (not even split-screen), no access to the free-battles and conquest mission.
You still get the standard customization thingy and single-player missions though.
