- J.E_Magog - 12-21-2006 They should fix the sense of scale, everything looks too big even for an ac. - Grim - 12-22-2006 <!--QuoteBegin-Grimlok+Dec 9 2006, 11:06 AM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (Grimlok @ Dec 9 2006, 11:06 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> There should be some back weapons that you can use on bipeds without them having to kneel, aside from missiles and rockets... maybe some of the weaker back cannons? Picking trashy backmounts for use on bipeds in a Plus-style manner would help diversity and the percentage of parts that are actually used. But I know, that's a dream reserved for an AC game and a GameShark, or for AC4 only. The balancing issues would be a nightmare. This is From we're talking about. Plus, the quad and tank lovers would just hiss and boo like there's no tomorrow, not to mention the countless veterans of the game just packing up and leaving. [/quote:c3db1df629] Well, apparently they put it in. I found this post in RH: <!--QuoteBegin-RebelSoulPK+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (RebelSoulPK)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I remember Hoppy from ACO who's played the demo said bipeds can use the smaller cannons on the move but still have to kneel for the big boys.[/quote:c3db1df629] Finally, some sense in the game. To get back on topic, they should put in the ability to slap on tribal designs/scuff marks/graffiti/stickers on your AC's paint. - Fox - 12-22-2006 <!--QuoteBegin-Grimlok+Dec 22 2006, 01:09 PM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (Grimlok @ Dec 22 2006, 01:09 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> To get back on topic, they should put in the ability to slap on tribal designs/scuff marks/graffiti/stickers on your AC's paint. [/quote:88634a6f30] You've been playing Need For Speed, have you? But then again, decals and vinyls/stickers aren't such a bad idea. - wanzerfreak - 12-22-2006 "linear" weapons = coilguns. a.k.a. GAUSS guns. - strawhat_luffy - 12-24-2006 lets see... an inside rail gun. Fires just like Python, with less weight, less attack, very little En drain. A pursuit missle-like orbit cannon. Think about it. Firing one huge rocket with about 10 orbits that come out. A fire all weapons feature. This would be fricken sweet. just like AC3's intro. - Fox - 12-24-2006 <!--QuoteBegin-strawhat_luffy+Dec 24 2006, 09:33 AM--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (strawhat_luffy @ Dec 24 2006, 09:33 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> A fire all weapons feature. [/quote:2cbe6e33b6] That would be ownage but i dread to think the heat problems it would cause. - Boltaction57 - 03-27-2007 No one mentioned two-handed guns? give them 2 functions for taking up both hands and besides they'll be heavy enough that you might not have any room for much else. (That Roc4 isn't mine I swear!) Combo attacks with P.blades (think of a fish hook's gut&jig motions) Mutiple weapons use (as in 4HP's) yes it would be broken but think of the ratings! [FONT=Impact] I've got more but I'm working on a Mock Quad-Pulvi rig and testing for plauibity. And that school thing. It's pretty cool here I think I'll stay awhile Boltaction - strawhat_luffy - 03-28-2007 hope you enjoy staying here. Quote:I'm working on a Mock Quad-Pulvi rig and testing for plauibity I'm not sure why, but that gave me an idea. now all I need is swap magic, an extra copy of LR, and a few empty DVD's. PULVERIZER MOD! course, I'm not sure thats entirely legal, so I'll leave it in the "development hell" stage right now. - Serene - 03-28-2007 How tall should an AC be? I'm guesin 20 meters, or something like lesser 15-18... - J.E_Magog - 03-28-2007 <!--QuoteBegin-Serene+March 28, 2007 06:31 pm--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (Serene @ March 28, 2007 06:31 pm)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->How tall should an AC be? On AC4,you can see people just as big as a HOGIRE head - Serene - 03-29-2007 So basically, AC's in AC4 just look big... 11-15 meters... Standard mech height huh... Even my designs are just that tall... Anyways... Could their weight be around something below 10 tons? - Fox - 03-29-2007 Ten tons is a bit too light for ACs, with all that hardware they're packing. The frame itself might weigh twenty tons or more but factor in the weaponry and all the internal equipment and you could be looking at a gross loaded weight of at least thirty to forty tons. Since similar-sized mobile suits clock in at an average weight of fifty-plus tons, ACs could be in the same neighborhood weight-wise. - Grim - 03-29-2007 <!--QuoteBegin-Fox+March 29, 2007 10:12 am--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (Fox @ March 29, 2007 10:12 am)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> Since similar-sized mobile suits clock in at an average weight of fifty-plus tons, ACs could be in the same neighborhood weight-wise. [/quote:6e1e631bc7] This, along with your article, got me thinking... just how much power is actually needed to power an AC to the skies? And with AC4's kind of flight, I'm guessing enough to power a whole city. Probably a nuclear powerplant. Two seems like overkill. Bah, mixing anime-styled robots and real-life science was never going to work anyway. - Fox - 03-29-2007 I never really understood what those stat numbers on the generators stand for (in LR). If they're talking kilowatts, then i'd say its not really enough to power a whole city. But if we're talking about the performance of AC4's mechs then i'd have to see a screenshot of the generators first before i talk my head off. Modern-day aircraft carriers use huge nuclear power generators to provide energy for the whole ship. The output those monsters are capable of are rumored to be able to handle the power needs of a small town but nowhere near enough to power a city. Although maybe in the future (or AC4's timeline) they'll be able to downsize those powerplants to a more manageable size but still be able to retain the power efficiency of the original models. I wouldn't be too keen on utilizing small-sized nuclear powerplants in mecha. If we follow standard mecha conventions and place the cockpits in nthe torso of the mech, then the only logical place to put the power source would be just behind the pilot. Not only would that be a risky area to place it if something went wrong with its operation, the heat emanating from the thing, coupled with battle stress and other factors would tire the poor fool who pilots the mecha. Small-sized mecha like ACs and mobile suits could theoretically be produced only if military contractors and other developers start with larger ones. The Titans from Warhammer 40k are a good size to aim for if/when ever our technological prowess gets that far. Like that'll happen in our lifetimes. Wish i could be reincarnated when the militaries of the future start using mecha when they initiate the next world war. |
