Yes they are compatible.If you have english,you can play with anyone.If you have a Japanese version,you can still play with anyone
There is an option that allows you to choose which server you're going to play with,Be it Eng,Eup,Aus,Jap and Etc.

just got the english version. aside from the cover, the US game is good stuff. i didn't mind playing the missions over again, and the voice dubbing isn't bad at all.
overall gameplay is wonderful. i think i found a bug tho. when you equip arm weapons + hangers and then you unequip the arm weapons, a notification dialog usually pops up in the JP version to tell you that the hangers have also been unequipped. in the US version, the dialog is invisible, but you still have to confirm twice. weird.
also, the US version didn't come with the latest regulation files. it came pre-packaged with 1.00 (of course) and 1.10 was downloaded as soon as i popped in the disk.

well, they changed a few little tidbits, but nothing i would really consider "bugs".
for example, they changed P. Damn's name to "P. Dam" and they changed the emblem of the GA heavy AC, "Primitive Light" from the Virgin Mary holding the Santo Nino to a lion with wings or something. probably just wanted to be more politically correct or whatever. L'_L' other than that, it's pretty faithful to the JP version.
and yes, i am a Filipino.

Melee Ability on the arm weapons.....
the weapon stab in the AC4 into can be done in-game.....
But it does little damage says dowmein...

Actually, in AC4 you can do that... it just takes... alot of hits to do it... and by lots I mean hundreds of times. On every arm weapon, they have a new stat that says "melee ability"

Like run into them hundreds of times.. =\ It doesn't do too much damage. At max, a rare 2000 AP damage. And the average amount of AP now is about 32000.
