Okay the live action movie, in hindsight after the adrenaline rush has died down, sucked. However, I haven't lost hope for the G.I. Joe franchise especially after watching the series of animated shorts called G.I. Joe: Resolute. Now, the best way I can describe this show is: Try to remember all those G.I. Joe cartoons you've watched when you were a kid, and ditch the laser-tag weapons, goofy dialogue, and add major character dying that makes the series have a more mature feel than its predecessors (G.I. Joe: Sigma 6 for instance).
The show still contains your sinister Cobra plot, but presented in a way that it is an actual threat to the world, and something that is actually believable despite a bit overboard. The characters themselves are portrayed in a new light, with the most striking difference seen in Roadblock who finally ditched the rhymin' lines he had in the old cartoons, and Cobra Commander and The Baroness who are much more sinister than ever before (Actually willing to kill subordinates and hostages for instance). Overall the change done to each character is a welcome experience for me, the characters were less annoying than their past incarnations, and the bad guys are really bad guys and not incompetent idiots. I'd highly recommend this series if you're a Joe fan, and I encourage people who aren't, to give this series a try (I'm not a Joe fan myself, but I managed to enjoy the short series). The whole G.I. Joe: Resolute series is composed of 10, five minute episodes, with an additional ten minute finale, which totals at just 1 hour.
The following are all from Youtube as the original webcasts from Hasbro's website have since been taken down. There are no DVD releases as of the moment, so this is probably the best we'll be getting for now. Hope you guys enjoy watching in case you don't have anything better to do
