Armored Core Analogs: Bazookas
While rifles are fine and dandy if you value finesse, there comes a time that you just want a weapon that satisfies your inner barbarian's urge to crush anything that moves. You, my friend, need a bazooka. More at the full article!
Armored Core Analogs: Shotguns
Every shooter in the known universe will have a shotgun, and Armored Core is no exception. And just like every incarnation of the this weapon, AC's own brand of boomstick is a nasty little beast you do not want to cross.
While its shot spread and slow reload speed are limiting factors to a shotgun's capabilities, these quirks are forgotten when one gets a taste of the weapon's ability to turn your AC into something resembling a clip from Destroyed in Seconds. Continue reading after the jump:
Armored Core Analogs: Grenade Launchers
Don't let the name fool you - from its long barrel, heavy weight, to its earth-shaking power, what Armored Core calls a "Grenade Launcher" is anything but a grenade launcher. Read why after the jump.
Armored Core Analogs: Slug Guns
Shotguns are awesome.
While they lack a rifle's range or the MG's sustained fire ability, they're capable of generating absurd amounts of damage in one quick pass. So when From Software decided to up the ante with Slug Guns, you'd think we'd slapping them on our ACs ASAP, right?
Wrong. Continue reading after the jump.
Armored Core Analogs: Multi-missiles/Hydra
Much like the mythical creature from where it takes its name, the Multi-missile pack is one weapon most people dread. While it doesn’t have the phenomenal stopping power of the other back mounts, the Hydra’s strength lies in its surprise – four missiles erupting from the main body to engulf the enemy, and cut off their attempts at escape. Armored Core Analogs: Finger Machine Gun
Size doesn't matter in the world of AC, especially when you're talking about the WA Finger. A placeholder for one of the series' most broken weapons, the Finger finds an unexpected ancestor in a weapon that helped shape the British Empire.
Barely the size of an AC's fist, the WA Finger machine gun is nonetheless one of the most hated weapons to ever grace Armored Core. While the Karasawa terrorized with staggering single-shot firepower, the Finger dealt fear with sheer, overwhelming numbers. Read more after the jump:
Armored Core Analogs: Anti-Missile Systems
One thing we enjoy about Armored Core are the parts, and how closely some they remind us of an existing analog in the real world.
For this post, we’ll be talking about anti-missile defenses – those wondrous little extensions that are oftentimes the only thing standing between you and an abrupt, fiery demise. The fact that they were so KISS-convenient to use was what made them rock – so long as you kept your AC pointed in the direction of your enemy, your little friends did the rest. So convenient in fact, that you’re probably wondering whether such a system is too good to be true. Find out after the jump:
An Unkindness of Ravens
A Nest for Ravens
Armored Core has always been something of a niche catering to the already-niche genre of mecha simulation. The Armored Core trilogy for the PS1 provided mech fans everywhere with the rare chance to build and battle with their very own customized mechs. As players got to know the game better, their skills improved along with their ability to design ACs. It got to the point where bashing the AI rankers wasn't enough any more and nothing other than an equally skilled human opponent would suffice for competition. But as most AC players realized, finding people to play against, let alone skilled ones, was truly a challenge with AC being the niche that it is.
Curry Curry Curry!
Ah, Japanese Curry. A popular dish in Japan common enough to be seen in most Japanese houses, Anime shows, and Manga. The aroma of this dish is mild compared to other curry variants making it appealing to a wide variety of tastes; it's not too strong and not too bland and perfect for those who cannot stand the spicier variants of curry. It is an excellent balance of a variety of flavors mixed together that form a wonderful dish that is sometimes touted to be one of Japan's national dishes.
