Dark Souls

Dark Souls, From Software’s other possibly more mainstream non-giant-robot cash cow, was just released the other day. And it’s good. We’ll probably be losing sleep over this for the next few days (months), so we’re posting this just so you know what to blame if the front page seems deserted again.

You guys can join the Dark Souls discussion in the forum if you’re as enthusiastic about the game.

Armored Core V - 013

Blades and giant robots always seem to go hand in hand (despite the probable impracticality), and Armored Core V is no exception in the hyperbolic treatment of this fan-favorite cliché.

Niji of ACU, who was fortunate enough to be included in the closed beta test, reports that the basic blade in ACV nearly one-shots most ACs and that the range and sweep is just as devastating. Continue reading »

FromSoft’s own YouTube channel just got updated with the full version of the Armored Core V teaser clip that was shown last June 1st. This video done in exceptionally realistic CG tells quite a bit about the game’s premise, such as the uncovering of ancient machines to be used in an ongoing war.

Uploaded a few days before the Armored Core V video are clips from the also highly anticipated (and equally amazing) FromSoft game Dark Souls. You can check all these out at the FromSoft channel.

Armored Core V Extended 3

The Armored Core official site has just been updated with the schedule of yet another tease-fest that is the Armored Core V – The LIVE for REBOOT. This fourth installment of their Armored Core V streaming demo series promises to feature the game’s whole CG intro cinematic. And based on all previous Armored Core CG openings (except maybe Project Phantasma, which was pretty bad), this should be epic as well.

Expect the stream to go up on June 2nd at 7:00 PM (Japan time) through their usual Famitsu and Ustream channels.

Nine-Ball Seraph is indeed present in the From Software developed mecha mash-up called Another Century’s Episode: R. The iconic Armored Core villain, this time controlled by pilot Winter, appears as the second to the last boss of the game. And after the 11th playthrough, Nine-Ball becomes a player selectable mech. Steel Battalion

Just a few hours ago during Microsoft’s Tokyo Game Show, mecha fans were treated to a teaser for a new Steel Battalion game being developed by From Software, of Armored Core and Demon’s Souls fame, for Capcom. This new Steel Battalion game is set to take advantage of Microsoft’s Kinect technology instead of the 32-button controller that the original was famous for. But of course it’s still too early to tell how exactly the Kinect will be used to simulate piloting a giant robot.

Anyway, enjoy the trailer below and be hyped with the rest of us.

It’s. About. Time. (Video after the jump)

Armored Core’s uber boss is finally making an appearance in Another Century’s Episode R, the latest incarnation of the long running ACE series which allows players to pilot their favorite anime mecha from various shows and blow stuff up. Finally, the chance that many AC power tripping fans have been hoping for is here without using some cheatcode to use him (We don’t really know if players can use him, but we’re assuming they can). From Software, who developed the same game, also inserted a Murakumo mech from the game with the same name in the first ACE title as well, so the tradition kinnda follows. More screenshots of this magnificent find after the jump: Continue reading »

From what we gather, From Software’s Armored Core corporate mascot the self dubbed “Black Torrent” Aaliyah Kawate, will be making an online appearance this coming August 20 Japan time on player matches in Armored Core: For Answer. The Black Torrent will be making an online appearance for all AC fans to basically beat him up, and you can tell everyone that you’ve played an online match with an Armored Core celebrity. Essentially a guy in an Aaliyah helmet and a suit, he’s From’s company representative in recent officially sponsored tournaments, as well as various player meetings over the past few months.

Select matches will probably be broadcast live on Ustream on that day as well. Check out Aaliyah Kawate’s awesome looking AC emblem after the jump: Continue reading »
