kewl works Happy, actually after seeing the shots used for they used and the technique is pretty simple what makes doing scenes like friggin hard is that is rendering time and adjusting the setting for each layer so that it would appear as one whole complete scene

The rendering would take even longer if everything was 3D.

yup, so doing a live shot for a person cuts down on rendering but it has its ups and downs like for one thing doing a live action shot means you have a to be a good actor XD plus even then you would still need to adjust the lighting conditions, for the live action shot because real world lights are pretty different from visual shots, then there is the problem for the HDRI imaging adjustment for each layer for post production compositing phase later on. Then layers upon layers of different settings, such an AO layer /Ambiant Occlusion layer to even give a much more realistic effect, also in some case specular, color, grayscale, dynamics, lighting etc are seperate layers depending on the situation or what you want to occur on the shot.

For me the scene with the dragon is the hardest to do among the scene showed in this thread. well the good news at least with the dragon scene is that you can get away with a low poly, low tesselated dragon model, high res texture specs for the dragon since its a long shot, you wont be seeing much of the details.

Yeah and i think it would be impossible for him to finish that dragon demo all by himself. For a solo project, something similar to that tank vid would be fine.

More information on that Dragon demo:

More works from Teh Wei Yeh(tank demo)

actually if a person has a lot of freetime, enough skill, and a lot of dedication that single person can do something like that.

Works made in Painter/Photoshop. He gets the lighting perfectly, they almost look 3D.

Android's good. But I find his works too... polished for my speed-paint loving brain, if that makes sense.

I find Carl Beu and Kandoken more to my liking. Kandoken especially because of his painting style, and the fact that most of his works are SF-related. Tongue
