James Cameron's completely immersive spectacle "Avatar" may have been a little too real for some fans who say they have experienced depression and suicidal thoughts after seeing the film because they long to enjoy the beauty of the alien world Pandora.

On the fan forum site "Avatar Forums," a topic thread entitled "Ways to cope with the depression of the dream of Pandora being intangible," has received more than 1,000 posts from people experiencing depression and fans trying to help them cope.

Quote:"When I woke up this morning after watching Avatar for the first time yesterday, the world seemed ... gray. It was like my whole life, everything I've done and worked for, lost its meaning," Hill wrote on the forum. "It just seems so ... meaningless. I still don't really see any reason to keep ... doing things at all. I live in a dying world."

i like that quote.....i'm not sure about any of you, but for me i 'see' that indeed, our world is slowly dying, we aren't fucked yet.......although we are entering a make it or break it stage........and what a thrill that it will be in our lifetime. it just fascinates me that with the technology we have....a single human life is enough of a window to see where the human enterprise is going.....

.....we are at a crisis....a crisis of consciousness....
as usual i will post some link that will serve as a memory link to a fraction of time spent in
making this rant =D

well it won't have the same affect....think about it....after seeing such a 'perfect' world in Avatar then comparing it to ours...that would generate a "oo nga no, tae tlga ang mundo natin" thought. However,l alice in wonderland doesn't have that thing going for it.....i'm not advocating that lol feeling these people have but i do find it fascinating how a movie can 'awaken' someone to becoming depressed about living in a 'dying' world.

though, alice in wonderland is mainly a DRUG movie.....
think about what's in it....

Mushrooms= obviously..... Alice ate mushrooms which made her big or small (i tried them twice *psylocibin mushroom* and indeed your perception and sense of being expand and contract....i guess it makes sense how they expand your consciousness, but i guess what's important is for you to have 'space' where your consciousness can expand.....meaning not just take shrooms and 'duuuuuuhhh this is so awesome' more like an adventure where you go out into the vast ocean alone....then bringing back ideas.....catch....middle size fish that you can share with people.

Mad tea dude= caffeine but with the way he's all jumpy i guess he might be on crack too lol
that seagull who smokes too much tobacco also the sugar loving bunny.....

funny thing is that if i recall correctly, alice in wonderland was written by someone who was into opium.....

i was curious for the lulz and wtf and Facepalm so i went to the forum and found: *********WALL OF TEXT ALERT**********

Quote: The first time after I woke up the next day after watching it I "had" to see it again. I have seen it four times now, and soon to be a fifth. I think watching it takes away that depression, because when I am watching it, i dont know how to describe how I feel, but it feels good. I want to just forget about it all sometimes, take down my avatar wallpaper, stop reading about it and what not, but I just cant.
I have to use a quote from the movie sometimes I guess "Sooner or later though, you always have to wake up."
I heard writing a sequel helps, but I just cant compete with what has been laid out.

I dont know if theres any WoW addicts out there, but after seeign Avatar I have lost all desire to play (and trust me thats like being addicted to any drug)
I'm just hoping it will pass over time, but if anybody has any recommendations how to cope I would love to hear them.

WTF, this dude is totally confused...
I was curious on the other ways but it's good that there are constructive suggestions like....

Quote: Start living like Neytiri: in touch with nature, the environment, and not being greedy and wasteful. Pass on the burger, for something more healthy for you and less cruel to animals. Spend your time on this forum, or volunteering in your free time, instead of getting high or drinking, twiddling your thumbs, being apathetic and complaining about how bad the world is. Don't get swept away by the wave of negativity, live your dream. Your life has only two switches, to shine or not to shine. There is no "apathy" setting. If you're on apathy setting you might as well sign your world away to destruction. When you get discouraged by everyone around you, be courageous like Jake, and jump on the leonopteryx. Be the change you want to see in your world. There are only so many people on this earth, the more of them that are doing positive things, the less of them that are out there doing negative things. It's unfortunate that we live in a world where, just by pulling a trigger or making a corporate decision, one single greedy human being can wipe out the hard works of love of many people. But this is why we need to stop focusing on money and start focusing on our environment. Because we have the intelligence to kill ourselves, but not the wisdom to stop it. What will our money buy, when everything that is worth having is destroyed? The only way you can fill the emptiness you feel after this movie, is to jump on the leonopteryx.

also another intesting wall of text:
Quote:Quote:

Yes, Elequin. It is very difficult to simply be good in this world, and just hope for the best. The only reason it is so easy to be that way on Pandora is because of the tsahaylu that Eywa provides to all creatures. (And even there you still have to watch out for the viperwolves. Even there jealousy and anger and death exists). Here on Earth we are not so lucky. "Tsahaylu" represents what we all dream of, when we truly dream. It is easy to be derided and ridiculed for being a dreamer in our world, when we look at how bad things are around us. But in the end, I feel that the reality of this world is alot simply how you look at it. If this world was 100% horrible, and without hope, if we ever stopped trying to live out our dreams, think about how much drearier this world would be. All parents would abandon their children, nobody would have any friends, people would stop painting, composing and writing, everyone would be cynical and hateful to each other to a degree even worse than what it is in reality. No alliances, no matter how self-serving, would even be possible. No we do not live in a world where tsahaylu is granted to us as a birthright by Eywa. Instead we live in a world that is in a precarious balance between conflict and harmony, and it is up to each and everyone of us to seek out tsahaylu, by how we act and where we devote our energies, each day, day in and day out. But it is not enough to be good, you must also be smart. You can be the most loving parent in the world to your child, but if you don't educate yourself on nutrition, you could be killing your child from an early age by feeding them Twinkies everyday. Or you can seek to feed the homeless, and if you don't provide a way for them to give back, you create a cycle of dependence and free riding. The examples could be endless.

Hmmmm interesting, looking forward to getting herbed up and watching this on HD later.

Edit:
I assume most part of the movie will take place in Pandora right? I just wonder WTF they need the money for? How the fuck do you not put any alien herbs in the movie......military and drugs whether pharmaceutical shit or natural....kinda like the Iraq war with morphine and cannabis mixed into the picture.....soldiers do get exposed to those drugs and obviously has some effect in their consciousness as well....

kinda wished they put a better interface in controlling mechs.....WHERE ARE THE CYBORGS? No human modifications? even a cyborg arm or leg? how about RED CYBORG EYES??? how far is pandora from earth in that movie/ how did Earth become a space exploring civilization without destroying the planet....

How come the military don't use jetpacks???? What fuel are they using? =O

i dunno....i still have more questions........but i am just loliing @ how they just pop in my head as i am watching....ok back to watching...enough ramblings. =D

about the herbs I think they don't need herbs (the smurfs at least) cus they get a mental high by connecting their USBs (lol at jake for that idea) to their planet

about the mechs I think those where just rip.. I mean imported from Zion XD

about the jet packs .... I dunno James Bond might sue them?

sure the natives might not have the shaman sub class but i assume if we ever come across an alien planet with a similar organic composition or ecosystem as ours it would have some form of herbs or mild altering substance from plants.....

i wonder though, these blue dudes....whatever the fuck you call them lol....how did they become conscious and self aware?
i mean we humans have been self conscious for only thousands of years....i wonder how it happened....one species...suddenly became self aware and slowly took control over the machinations set out by the flesh we inhabit. So in comparison, how did these blue dudes *lol* became self conscious...why only them? how about other creatures?

i guess the hominid class we inhabit is perfect for the manipulation of matter......our hands and then our language which contiues to complexify at an accelerating rate.....fascinating how we arrived at this day and age....if only we can redeem the mistakes of the pasts by creating a paradise....i doubt,...but i would be so happy to be proven wrong.

I am hoping for movies with this kind of a WTF MINDBLOWN plot...again...i doubt, i'll just 'see' one inside my head.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLFSz5zCs5o

what i find interesting about the story is the plot where there are two timestreams of our planet....one ours....shitty as of the moment....and another one is a utopia....and what's fascinating is on how it came to be....so let me expand and rant some more lol =D

ok it all started with the death of Christ...in their world the bullshit *lol sorry but not really...but seriously though....respawn?* anyway the notion of ressurection didn't take place....it was a different thing...christ died and left behind an ideological vacuum which, in their world was filled with something more 'real'. With the lack of Christianity being the dominant meme taking over the consciousness of people, there was no Dark Ages to begin with....their world was progressive both in mind and its manifestation of technology.....The roman empire didn't collapse.....and was able to meet with the Mayan civilization.....they embraced the shamanic culture and assimilated.....later on the Chinese *Sung Dynasty* with their passive Daoist belief assimilated as well....they became a global civilization early...but with shamanic values....they evolve into a utopia and became beings far from what we are now.....

.....what fascinates me is the notion of them figuring out the nature of time and that their is a dimension out there with a shitty world but it was them at one point....the thing is, they decided to help and opened the time stream @ lol 2012....and we are allowed to incubate in their utopian version of Earth before setting out and exploring space~~~~

so yea, how about a utopian movie....a movie where the pont of it is to appreciate, no conflict at all....but a resolution of one....generally a good vibes movie...

Split and merged the topic from another thread.

Anyway, these people should try moving to the Amazon or find some random African tribe to immerse themselves in. The Philippines might have a few, too. They'll probably come crying back home in a month after realizing... "Oh shit no toilets/grocery/internet/porn/running water/etc...!!!"

yea, seriously the blue dude world isn't all that perfect...ii would prefer having a utopia with technology, although peaceful co-existence with nature is also ok, i still, for now, can't let go of the progress we have made using machines...it's the human mind that needs to progress...

hahaha i definitely will....i still prefer if te movie would be colorful with a slight hint of bloom....but high res and AAA anti-aliasing...and yes i'm talking about how shrooms affect you....at that time i treated my body as if i had an internal voice interface telling me the status...kinda like an AC...lol cuz i was doing a psychonaut session.......anyway....i tried psylocibin mushroom and also this shroom which is Alice in Wonderland related....
Amazing how the Amanita is legal yet psylocibin isn't...tsk tsk tsk......fail human consciousness.. =/

** Rudol the red nose reindeer....was a shroom eating reindeer** XD

In my opinion the movie should've been colorful like a shroom trip, oh well....the dark tone to it just isn't giving the good vibes some of those 'drugs' in the movie do in real life...
