Sophomore 1st quarter debate in 2 weeks. Ninja

I'm adjudicator again but...I still need some opinions on the proposition...(don't worry, it's a FUN one XD )

Proposition:

Resolve that internet technology has done more harm than good to students.

Students in general btw. (Pre-school to college/masters)

I'll start with the obvious ones, to get things going.

Good
- easier and faster access to a wider variety of information
- the ability to share and collaborate has also been made easier

Harm
- since just about anyone can contribute, information is sometimes incorrect
- the explosion of downloading has led to activities that deter students from actually studying LOL

Good:
Wikipedia

Harm:

Good: google

Bad: google abuse

basically like everything else the internet is good in moderation the unfortunate thing is it is more geared to getting people addicted to it (or is just the most successful at it).

the problem that leads to the internet being harmful is that it IN A WAY constricts a person's way of thinking and makes them less flexible as they depend on one relatively volatile source of information.

to some its a tool to some its a crutch XD

GOOD: TROLLS LOL

Nakiki troll lang, ahem.

Good: Literally limitless access to information.

Harm: Literally limitless access to information of all kinds.

It speaks for itself. Sudden bursts of information regarding things that spark a student's curiosity often may just as well affect them in the wrong way.

Also, they may find the human interaction they usually get IRL from the Internet. In effect, it makes them more shy and introverted when facing other people. To the point that it makes normal communication with other people difficult.

The net does well in providing instant answers to our questions, whether it be academic or trivial. This forgoes any need for information validation (coz it's too tedious). The internet has help make instant gratification a way of life. And instant gratification comes in many ways in the vast web. It did, however, make open communication much more open. It's like what we're doing right now.

we got that question too.. but.. we answered on the spot.. =_= (stupid philosophy)

prof: define the terms good.. and harmful..
us: (random definitions) = fail

good/bad:
quick access to wide variety of information..
we learn to analyze the source.. if it is credible or crap...
communication (YM.. skype.. chikka.. etc..)
entertainment..
etc..

everything in the internet can both be good and bad.. it depends on how people use it... even wikipedia is harmful! Ninja
for example.. the stupid apocalypse crap..
and.. the sour math thingy.. I think anyone here knows that.. Jason

well people who don't know how to use internet won't be harmed

Laboratory:
stupid classmate:pano ba to?! (randomly clicking buttons)
monitor:error (X)
us:hala!! kumakain ng tanga yan!! LOL

hahah sorry sorry I don't mean to derail an unusually serious discussion. I'll add something intelligent when I get home.
