What kind of music do you guys like listening to?

I generally like alternative rock, jazz, electronica, oldies, etc. and pretty much anything except modern RnB and Hip-Hop. >_<

Specific artists that I like are:

Jason Mraz
Dave Matthews Band
Postal Service
Bloc Party
Boys Like Girls
Snow Patrol
The Cure
The Beatles
The Bluetones
Oasis
Stevie Wonder
etc etc

Local Bands, I like
The Dawn
Eraserheads
Up Dharma Down
There's this new band called Zelle that sounds really good too.

Frankly, much of the local music nowadays sucks balls. Badly.

I also enjoy Video Game Soundtracks and of course some Japanese and anime music. As far as J-Rock goes, I particularly like L'Arc~En~Ciel and Tokyo Jihen.

I never was picky ... I maintain by the motto "if it sounds good then its good"

but Im feeling slighty detached from most of the current songs these days ... it is harder to be more creative these days IMO ... maybe the current music styles (more specifically those in america) are just too new for me XD... is eminem still around? haven't heard any new songs from him lately.

Christ are all of us alike or what.

Jazz - Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie
Bossa Nova - Astrud Gilberto
Reggae - Bob Marley, and with good reason. Modern reggae artists are pretty cool too though.
Electronica and general technofunkiness - Daft Punk, and uhh... Daft Punk.
Rock (old skool and new school) - Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, RATM, Mudvayne (fuckin' mathcore, yeah!)
Video game music - Yasunori Mitsuda, StarSalzman, virt
Random noises made by interesting instruments

I'd like to think my taste is pretty diverse, as I'll actually listen to anything and everything with an open approach. I somewhat enjoy OPM, especially the bands which don't take themselves too seriously (Itchyworms, Brownman Revival, Shiela and the Insects).

You mentioned everything I forgot to mention LOL except for the Bossa Nova part, because its so overplayed now.

About mathcore, ever tried listening to the Battles or Zazen Boys? Battles are indie and are a mix of electronica and rock. Zazen are indie too, and Japanese electronica w/ hiphop.

OPM: Really like SatI too, which I forgot to mention. And Wickermoss.

LOL yeah Bossa Nova sucked ever since it became "cool" to "bossanovize" existing songs. >_<

NiX i know you have something against this genre. you see, the reason why you dont get why we (me, pat and fred) listen to this is because we have this certain "angst" inside us. its like this anger sa mundo that wont go away. ako i know exactly where i got my angst, i also know where patrick got his. i doubt that you will ever understand that boiling feeling we have. you would be surprise but this music helps absorb it. sorry dude
