Most Awesome Toy Robot Ever

Ladies and Gentlemen, the future is now. This is the little robot that could, and this video just shows what it is capable of. I’m willing to bet that some of you wished you have gotten this for Christmas, otherwise just watch in envy at what this little I-Sobot can do including slicing a dinosaur with a sword, and shooting various projectile weapons at different targets. Right now, I am only hoping that Santa remembers my request for one.

Random Mecha Video of the Day/Week: Panic Attack!

What we have here is an awesome short fan video about giant alien robots invading the city of Montevideo located in Uruguay. Rumor has it that the creators of the video have been contracted by Mandate Pictures to give them $1 million to direct a $30 million film on the basis of this video which reportedly only cost $500 to make. Directorial and actor management aside, there is no doubt to the quality of special effects used in the video are nothing short of awesome especially considering the budget and robot action involved. Enjoy!

Gundam vs Gundam IRL

No, not the upcoming PSP game, but maybe one day if they’ll scale this up this will be way better. Filmed from the International Robot Exhibition 2009 in Japan.

Super Japanese Mecha Anime Opening Collection

Megas XLR not included.

Because everyone digs giant robots.

Ok, I know I’ve been slow. Not covering Silent Line Portable‘s JP release was already a sign and missing last week’s Random Mecha Video of the day/week was another. So to make it all up for the lack of Random Mecha Videos and content, I present a massive collection of Mecha Anime openings from 1960’s till 2008. This is not my work, but it has been floating around an would at least interest anyone who has played SRW and asked “Where the hell did this robot come from?”. You’ll see it all, from icons like Tetsujin 28 (including the re-makes and re-imaginations), Mazinger-Z, various Macross and Gundam titles, to obscure super-robot titles such as Chogattai Majutsu Robo Gingaizer (Super Combining Magical Power Robo Gingaizer). It’s 7-8 hours of awesomeness and mecha history. The download links after the jump.

Shining Blood Freeware Mech Combat Game

This freeware game called Shining Blood was created by Teasoft, which can be described as an indie-level production Armored Core: For Answer. You have 6 mechs to choose from and the objective of each game is to blow everyone else up. Upgrades are purchased in the game though collecting red items that destroyed opponents drop. Gameplay shares FA’s speed, at least seen from the videos. A trial version for the Xbox 360 is available in the xbox live marketplace aside from the PC version available from their website.

You will need to have the XNA Framework and .NET Framework 2.0 installed to play Shining Blood.

Bad Gundams!

Ask any mecha fan what they think is the most prolific mecha plamo maker is and more often than not, the answer you’ll get is Bandai. Aside from various Macross and Digimon figures and toys, they are also the sole manufacturer of the entire Gundam model kit and figure lineup, which they started back in the early ’80s. The very first releases were non-graded kits of the RX-78-2 and the Zaku II, which featured very minimal detail and poseability and required paint and glue to complete.

Random Mecha Video(s): Gunhed and J-Phoenix

Okay, to make up for being half-assed in posting front page content I’m posting 2 videos for this weeks Random Mecha Video(s). This first one is from a live action movie Gunhed released during the 1980s, and it certainly looks something out of the set of Aliens. While the mech itself spends much of its time rolling, its good to see it actually blow stuff up. Second random mecha video after the jump.
