Happy 4th Year Anniversary Raven Republic

4th year Sophie

Welp, it's that time of the year. Raven Republic was founded on August 13, 2006. We couldn't resist posting a new colored Sophie Emilia picture to commemorate this event, drawn and colored yet again by the very talented Trace 02. RR's cover girl still looks as fresh as ever. With all the events and meetings RR's members have been through, we all hope to expect RR to stay around much longer.

Happy Birthday RR!

Someone Is Making A Tribute Album For Armored Core Soundtracks

Linka and Sophie listening to some AC tunes.

So far, he's making a damn good job at it. Mattias Häggström Gerdt is a freelance Swedish video game music composer who had a hand at developing music for various video games and music artists (what did you expect from a guy that had Viking war music in his bloodline?). Inspired by various Armored Core OSTs, particularly the synthesized vocals used in most soundtracks, he decided it was high time that a tribute album be made in honor of this unique method of music composition.

You can read his essay on processed vocals in Armored Core soundtracks (Prominent examples include Artifical Sky, Shining. Samples of which can be listened to after the jump) that got him started on this project. If you need a quick memory refresh on what synthesized vocals were like in Armored Core, hit the jump for a quick refresher on Shining form AC:N and Artificial Sky from AC3 as well as a sample of Mattias' awesome tribute album:

Upcoming Armored Core Merchandise From Kotobukiya

The Last Raven incarnation of Oracle seems to be a confirmed kit, and a fully painted sample exists as seen above which might make its debut sometime this year.

Another upcoming Armored Core collectible series simply called "Fugitto Mechanicals" is expected to get a 2011 release, whether this compliments the current Variable Infinity series of model kits or a totally new line of models we don't know as of the moment. You can view some promotional materials after the jump:

Summer Sophie

Ever wondered who the little chibi girl on the side of some articles? She's no other than Sophie Emilia, Raven Republic's very own covergirl created by none other than our very own Trace. For this summer illustration, Sophie is in the mood for soaking up some rays. Can you tell which AC core part resembles those patterns on her top?

Thanks Trace for creating another wonderful piece. You may want to look at more pictures of the lovely Sophie under the appropriate tag.

Now That’s An Armored Core: Foxeye Juggernaut

We really didn't know what to call it, and the name was just an impromptu of nicknames given by our forum members after witnessing the awesomeness of this issue of Now That's An Armored Core. At first glance, it looks like a heavily modified Foxeye, similar to what Jack-O was piloting in Armored Core Last Raven, but numerous changes clearly differentiate this unit from the game incarnation.

One can see the top-notch weathering effects on the model as well as the addition of little rectangular blocks, which we would assume to be pieces of Reactive Armor, painstakingly attached to the various joints and limbs of this unit, as well as a CAMS attached to the ATLAS core part in addition to additional weapons. See more pictures after the jump:

Dance Dance Armored Core

This video simply brims with an awesome display of fireworks, Kojima Particles, missiles and beams that can only come together in a carefully choreographed display of timing, positioning, and probably having a little too much time in one's hand playing Armored Core: For Answer, which leads to spectacular results. Simply put, a pyrotechnic and dance show unlike any other. Stuff like this makes synchronized swimming look like a joke.

Thanks Atdsutm for sharing this.

Armored Core Analogs: Shotguns

Perfect for situations like these.

Every shooter in the known universe will have a shotgun, and Armored Core is no exception. And just like every incarnation of the this weapon, AC's own brand of boomstick is a nasty little beast you do not want to cross.

While its shot spread and slow reload speed are limiting factors to a shotgun's capabilities, these quirks are forgotten when one gets a taste of the weapon's ability to turn your AC into something resembling a clip from Destroyed in Seconds. Continue reading after the jump:

Armored Core Analogs: Finger Machine Gun

Stinger is just about to hit a hand full of lead.

Size doesn't matter in the world of AC, especially when you're talking about the WA Finger. A placeholder for one of the series' most broken weapons, the Finger finds an unexpected ancestor in a weapon that helped shape the British Empire.

Barely the size of an AC's fist, the WA Finger machine gun is nonetheless one of the most hated weapons to ever grace Armored Core. While the Karasawa terrorized with staggering single-shot firepower, the Finger dealt fear with sheer, overwhelming numbers. Read more after the jump:
